A RAINBOW CAKE!!!!! Who would not want a rainbow cake?

I first had my rainbow cake at a friend’s place earlier this year. At that time, my friend told me that she thought it all out with her sister. They would make six layers of cakes and stack them up. They would put them together with icing and coat the outside with the same white icing. It would make a big surprise to everyone when they cut it.

Even if the process didn’t go well as they expected, the idea itself was very intriguing and led me to the search of its pictures.

Having found these pictures, i realized that a rainbow cake can be done in many different ways. It can be the six-layered cake as my friend and her sister thought of, or a cake with rainbow decorations, or even a cake in rainbow shape. Just like how we make artworks, we can play with the same elements or figures and tackle them on different angles, making it the most unique collection of ideas.

It is within these small inspiring ideas like “making a rainbow cake” that our creativity begins… 

This logo, made by simple shapes available on Microsoft Word, is an illustration of my own face. Judging by the portrait my friend drew me last week, I figured that the most distinct trace of my face is my smile and eyes. That’s what she said. However, i added some more traces of me on it, with how I see myself too. I changed the hairstyle into a tied up hair with. I also added the big pink earrings because i like pink colour as well as to wear big earrings.

This exercise has taught me how to draw and make logos with simple shapes. It inspired me and gave me new ideas for my own artworks. Maybe I’ll upload them one day :)

An experiment in class, having your friend draw your portrait. Not only that my friend was trying to draw a most realistic portrait of me possible; but she was also trying to put traces of my characters in her drawing. I find that, apart from seeing your friend’s drawing skills, this exercise is a very interesting way to discover how your friend sees you. Because our perception of our own characters is always different from what others perceive, I found out many new things about myself that I had never thought of before. On the other hand, I also discovered that it is not that easy to draw out the characters of our friends. Sometimes, they are not that distinct, or they are too abstract. It is difficult because not everything you know is on the surface and not everything you see is their real characters….

a very inspiring picture to think about ourselves.

The giant quotation marks on each side of a girl’s back. What does this mean? Why? What is she trying to say? Many more questions popped up into my mind when I first saw this picture. This tattoo is more or less an invitation to its viewer to join the discussion, to fill in the blank between these marks. Not only that this is one of the coolest tattoos, in my opinion; but it is also inspiring at the same time. It inspires us to think, to create, and to get into our own imagination.

This is a project called “miles and monk in the sky”. This piano is the center of many collaborations between artists and musicians. It represents many ideas as well as numerous cultures across the universe. For me, many reasons have made this one of the most inspiring artworks. Firstly, the effort in making all the collaborations to make all this possible on one piano is amazing. Secondly, the multi-coloured piano represents well the differences between all the people who have worked on it. Most importantly, this piano makes its viewer feels like they can just hear music in their heads by just seeing it. The signatures of all the musicians make us automatically imagine their music, rising up in the corner of our mind while examining this artwork….
